U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley met with the University of Oregon's Cassandra Moseley, UO faculty and community partners to discuss Oregon's Wildfire Smoke Center for Research & Practice.

Roundtable participants discussed the urgent statewide need for effective wildfire smoke monitoring, and strategies on how to support communities with critical information so they can prepare for and protect against wildfire smoke hazards, like those currently impacting many Oregon communities.

Merkley, along with Oregon Senator Ron Wyden, directed funding for the creation of this center.

The roundtable took place at the Ford Alumni Center at the University of Oregon campus, it went from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
