Moving Eugene More Sustainably: What Affects Transportation Choices in Downtown Eugene?

Moving Eugene Word Cloud

Principal Investigator: Rebecca Lewis (School of Planning, Public Policy, and Management)

Project Summary: Originally funded to examine transportation attitudes and behavior that relate to the decision to drive to downtown Eugene (rather than take transit, bike, or walk), this project shifted in scope due to the current COVID-19 pandemic.   The research team is collaborating with the cities of Eugene and Springfield to examine how functional and recreational transportation practices have been disrupted due to COVID-19. The team is studying implications for the future of transportation practices post-COVID-19 based on new lived experiences during the pandemic.  This project will address how environmental attitudes affect the likelihood of continuing sustainable transportation practices post-COVID-19.
